SEND

Epinay Business and Enterprise School is a Co-operative Trust School which caters for up to 215 children and young people from 4-18 years of age with a wide range of special educational and complex needs. Children work at a level that is significantly lower (typically 3 years plus behind) than their peers in mainstream schools, who have and Educational Health Care Plan (EHCP). The school provides provision for children and young people with mild to moderate learning difficulties.

Many children in the school have identified additional needs such as ADHD, ASC/D, (Autistic Spectrum Condition/Disorder, SLCN (speech and language communication needs), Asperger’s syndrome and specific learning difficulties (such as dyslexia, dyspraxia and dyscalculia) where one or more of the basic psychological processes involved in understanding or in using language, spoken or written is affected. These students may have limited ability to listen, process, think, speak, read, write, spell or do mathematical calculations effectively.

Some of our children are diagnosed with severe learning difficulties, these children find it difficult to understanding, learn and remember new skills. These students will have problems with both the acquisition of skills and their application to new situations, intellectual or cognitive impairment, possibly sensory issues or poor coordination.

Some of our children have anxiety and mental health difficulties and require additional support for their emotional stability, they do not present with physically challenging behaviours.

As a school we create a safe and inclusive centre of excellence by providing a stimulating environment where learners achieve challenging and inspirational targets in order to develop as happy, confident and independent learners who are prepared for adulthood.
