School Council Projects – Autumn Term 1
Meeting date 21.10.24
Students planned and participated in our Anti-bullying Assembly, which was held on the 4th November. The students supported Miss Willis in promoting “Odd Socks Day”. This was great fun for students and the staff while also raising £55 for anti-bullying charities. The councillors made sure that all students understood the message behind wearing the odd socks. This was to demonstrate that individuals join together to show that it’s okay to be different and to stand up against bullying and discrimination. This is something that Epinay School firmly believes in.
During the assembly, the school council read some poems about bullying and shared some personal experiences of bullying from their previous schools. These were difficult to hear so as a school council; we shared our pledge to STAMP bullying out. We worked with Mrs Murphy, Miss Hayes, Roni Jopling, Miss Abel, and Miss Willis on planning a range of activities that took place on the lunchtime for the full week. The activities we planned included Mindfulness colouring, yoga, additional rebound sessions and making worry jars. We also created a wonderful kindness tree, which is found in Rue Avenue. All these activities were well attended.
